Pokemon Go Ideas
I came up with some ideas to improve Pokemon Go! This is where I could post the whole text, so here we go!
New Gym Rewards!
—————-
Players who fight against a gym will get the same rewards they get now, but they will also get bonus stardust and they will get candies for whatever type of pokemon they used to fight in the gym. In this way, you can fight in gyms and use the rewards to power those pokemon up (just like experience gained in a gym!).
Gym defenders will also get stardust and candies for winning battles against attackers! Players can also get Attack EVs for any pokemon used to attack opposing gyms and Defense and HP EVs for pokemon defending in gyms.
Gym Types!
———-
Players who take over a gym can set a certain type of pokemon as the theme of their gym. Pokemon of that type can be placed in the gym to defend it. Players who do this (and team members who abide by it) will gain 3x the pokecoins for following the typing, as well as gain a defensive boost. Players can still add pokemon that don’t follow the type selection, however they will not get any of the extra benefits (and may get a defensive nerf to make kicking them out easier).
New IV training!
—————-
Each pokemon now has EVs for each of their three IVs (HP, Attack, and Defense). By adding to these EVs, players can level up the IVs of a pokemon until they are all perfect at 100%! For example by giving a pokemon 150 EVs, that IV goes up by a point, basically just working like experience, with the EV amounts increasing for each level up.
Each pokemon species has a flavor of berry that they like and dislike. By taking berries of the flavor they like and blending them with the Berry Blender, players can make drinks to give their pokemon to increase EVs, which then raises their IVs until they have perfect pokemon! Read on for more about the berries needed for this and so on.
New Items!
———-
Berry Blender - Allows you to take up to 3 berries and blend them into a drink. By mixing and matching flavors, you can create drinks which will increase a pokemon’s EVs in a certain stat (HP, Attack, or Defense) if they like the flavor of that drink. You add the berries to the blender, then after walking a certain amount of time (like hatching an egg), the drink is done! Berry Blenders are limited use like the incubators. Each pokemon family likes and dislikes different flavors of drinks.
Apricorn - Apricorns are a type of fruit that drops from Apricorn trees! They can be used to open and get a random berry or traded to the Professor’s friend to get special balls. Apricorns come in Black, Yellow, White, Pink, Blue, Red, and Green varieties.
Balls - New ball types are introduced! Each weather type has a ball type which has increased catch rates against pokemon that are empowered by that weather type. It doesn’t need to be that weather type, the pokemon just needs to be the right type. These are the balls you get by trading in Apricorns.
Black - Fog - Spook Ball - Effective against Dark and Ghost
Yellow - Rain - Zap Ball - Effective against Water, Bug, and Electric
White - Windy - Chill Ball - Effective against Dragon, Flying, and Psychic
Pink - Cloudy - Mind Ball - Effective against Fairy, Fighting, and Poison
Blue - Sunny - Deluge Ball - Effective against Fire, Grass and Ground
Red - Snow - Burn Ball - Effective against Ice and Steel
Green - Partly Cloudy - Fist Ball - Effective against Normal and Rock
New Berries!
————
Oran, Sitrus, and Leppa - These berries heal gym defenders double the other berry types. Consequently, other berries will be nerfed to 2/3 the healing they do now. Sorry! Adding these berries to a berry drink is neutral for flavoring and won’t upset anyone. However, you don’t get as much EVs as you would from using a stat specific berry.
Bluk - Gives double Stardust when used on a pokemon. Bluk can be blended with either Dry or sweet flavors only. Blending with other flavors will cancel the EV growth.
Wepear - Prevents the pokemon from running away for a certain number of throws (a very select few such as Abra may be immune to this effect). Wepear can be blended with either Bitter or Sour flavors only. Blending with other flavors will cancel the EV growth.
Additionally, Razz berries can be blended with Spicy or Dry flavors.
Nanab berries can be blended with Sweet or Bitter flavors.
Pinap berries can be blended with Sour or Spicy flavors.
Blending Razz, Nanab, Pinap, Bluk, and Wepear will not increase EVs as much as one of the below berries, but this is useful for if you only have two Attack EV berries and want to increase someone’s Attack IV now rather than trying to find a third appropriate berry. Mixing any of these 5 berries with one of a different flavor creates a Bland Drink which gives no EVs (for example mixing a Razz Berry with Pecha which is not a Spicy or Dry flavor).
—–(As a note, all of these following berries are very rare drops from normal pokestops. They drop much more often from the new Berry Bush stop type described below.)—–
Cheri, Figy, and Occa - When blended into a drink, increases HP, Attack, or Defense (respectively) for pokemon that like Spicy Food and reduces it for pokemon that dislike Spicy.
Chesto, Wiki, and Passho - When blended into a drink, increases HP, Attack, or Defense (respectively) for pokemon that like Dry Food and reduces it for pokemon that dislike Dry.
Pecha, Mago, and Wacan - When blended into a drink, increases HP, Attack, or Defense (respectively) for pokemon that like Sweet Food and reduces it for pokemon that dislike Sweet.
Rawst, Aguav, and Rindo - When blended into a drink, increases HP, Attack, or Defense (respectively) for pokemon that like Bitter Food and reduces it for pokemon that dislike Bitter.
Aspear, Iapapa, and Yache - When blended into a drink, increases HP, Attack, or Defense (respectively) for pokemon that like Sour Food and reduces it for pokemon that dislike Sour.
New Stop types!
—————
All of these work the same as regular stops, IE you can spin a spinner to get items, but they also have other functions!
As a note, Apricorn Trees and Berry Bushes will be scattered all over throughout more rural areas so that rural area players have more options for pokestops. They’ll be availbale to urban players, just not as much.
-> Apricorn Trees - Spin the spinner and get an item or two, and a guaranteed apricorn once per day per tree. When you get your first apricorn, you’ll get a little cutscene where professor whatshisname says “Hey you found an apricorn! Let me introduce you to my friend. He makes special balls from them. Call him whenever you want to trade Apricorns for balls!”. From now on from the menu somewhere, you can trade apricorns for special balls like Burn Balls which are very good at catching the types that are empowered by Snowy weather or Zap Balls which are good for catching Rain powered pokemon. Basically there’s one ball for each weather type.
-> Berry Bushes - Spin the spinner to get 2-4 berries of random kinds! Berries earned by specific methods like raids like Golden Razz Berries don’t drop from this. Though you will get normal berries like Razz and Pinap more often, you can often get bonus berries of the new flavored kind. In more tropical areas, this is replaced by the Berry Palm which drops 5-8 berries, most of which are the rarer ones.
-> Pokemon Center - Spin the spinner and get one regular item or two, as well as revive and heal any injured pokemon to full!
These stops usually only replace stops that are found at hospitals or other types of medical facilities like free clinics, paid private clinics, doctor’s offices, emergency care, mental health facilities, and so forth.
-> Pokemon Mart - Spin the spinner and get the normal amount of items. The chances to get various potions and revives is increased. Also, Pokemon Marts have special options for buying items with Pokecoins that aren’t available from the normal shop. Things like the special evolution items, egg incubators, and the new items I thought up (Berry Blender, etc). These stop types replace most of the “sponsored” stop types like Starbucks and Sprint, and they can maybe offer other things like discounts on their stuff in exchange for coins? I dunno.
-> Daycares - Uh oh, pikachus been bangin like crazy and these stops have so many eggs they’re giving them away! Spinning the spinner gets you eggs. You also have a chance of getting incubators. Daycares are usually found in parks or near schools, so sorry to any sex offenders who are legally prevented from going there. Also, you can choose two of your pokemon to leave at one of these stops, just like a gym! When you spin the spinner from that stop in the future, the egg is guaranteed to be one of those two pokemon, will be colored differently than regular eggs, and hatch after walking 15 km. A male and female is required, and after choosing the first ‘mon, the game will provide you a list of compatible mons from your inventory to leave in there. The offspring is guaranteed to have 2 IVs from one parent and one IV and a move from the other parent.
Player Tagging!
—————
Players are able to tag areas on their maps as different types of environments. Features like waterways (rivers, lakes, creeks, ponds, etc), wooded areas, grassy areas, sandy beaches, and urban features like waste reclamation plants, dumpsters, graveyards, various business types that are relevant like dojos, and so on. As players tag areas with various landscape and man made features, they will compile into a complete picture which Niantic staff will research and review. Areas found to be accurate will be implemented and those that aren’t won’t (with players punished if they clearly tried to game the system). Player tagging will be used to power the next thing:
Area specific spawns!
———————
Certain pokemon will be much more likely to spawn in their respective natural habitat (though they’ll still spawn in other places). Pokemon like Grimer and Trubbish will spawn more often near landfills, toxic waste dumps, or other polluted areas. Wingull spawn more often near beaches or inland parking lots (because lol seagulls). Magnemite and Voltorb spawn more often near power plants, generators, substations and major powerlines. Ghost types show up more often near graveyards or sites of huge tragedies. This kind of happens in the current game, but not as often as it should. Also, every weekend they should pick a type of terrain in which everything is counted as so those who don’t like near it have a chance sometimes to find these things.
Pokemon specific improvements
———————
Different pokemon will have different animations, dodges while trying to catch them, and some are more likely for various attack and dodge types. For example, hooved Pokemon like Tauros and Ponyta Can’t freaking jump while standing still! Others like Magikarp can jump. Like Juuuuuuump. Like they jump off screen and don’t fall back down for like 20 seconds. Pokemon encountered near water areas will be actually swimming in water and can dive to avoid balls. and several other ideas for this I haven’t thought of yet.
Pokemon Go Plus Improvements!
———————-
There are many improvements to be had for this little expensive accessory.
1. When you move out of range of a stop or a catch, it will stop blinking and buzzing after like 5 seconds! No longer will it keep going for an extra 30 seconds and then dooming you to a fail while other things you could be going for pass you by!
2. When you are speedlocked, Pokestops will not register at all. These automatically fail when you try for them, so what’s the point of even registering?
3. At normal speeds, Pokestops will be prioritized over encounters. Now you don’t have to fight through three mons before spinning the spinner that you came for!
4. In the pokedex, there will be options on each page for the highest level of ball usable for each pokemon encounterable and also an option to use a berry of your choice first. This way, if you encounter a Squirtle, you can choose to have the Go Plus throw a razz berry and an ultra ball instead of basically guaranteeing a fail with a regular ball alone. You can also choose to just leave it to regular ball or even just ignore things you don’t want to catch anyways like Weedles.
